My Students

My students attend a diverse, urban high school with a school population of over 3,000 students. The majority of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch. There were 68 different countries represented in the graduation class of 2017. The high school also has a immense English Language Learner population along with Special Education students.

Students participating in the Political Debate Club and Mock Trial are actively engage in activities that encourage them to civically active and interested in the law and how it impacts society.

These are consistently looking for ways to feel empowered and inspired during their high school career.

My Project

These materials will ensure that students will be able to produce speaking events. Students worked on planning a TedxTalk this past school year and struggled with getting access two way radios and microphones. If these tools were more accessible for students to access, we could hold more than one speaking event to engage the school community in a dialogue.

My students will be more engaged and successful in organizing speaking events for the entire student body!

This will ensure student voices are heard about what they have on their mind! The ultimate goal is to give students the tools that they need to engage each other with speeches.
