My Project

This grant will provide my 8th graders with the ability to read and analyze a book about overcoming adversity. We will meet in groups/partners to discuss the book together. I have found (and research supports this) that engaging in meaningful discussion around specific themes within novels not only helps my students share ideas, but also exposes them to a strong connection with the power of story telling.

Many of my favorite lessons in my classroom center around students talking, writing and reflecting upon the stories we share about our lives.

We become connected and empowered throughout this process.
