Many of our students our avid readers and require books that are above their current grade level. In order to push their achievement, they are often purchasing their own books and reading independently. I would like to empower them further by providing book club experiences, that will engage them more deeply with the author's work, but also with their peer group. Through higher-level questioning and analytical literary discussions, students will have a more authentic experience with reading, and expand their content knowledge in the process. It is my belief that reading for pleasure provides students with more compassion, greater understanding, and hopefully, a life long passion for reading.

About my class
