This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of kids who are used to being told no. They are a highly creative group but are not always given the means, or time to use what makes them whole. They enjoy taking risks both behaviorally and creatively. If they are not engaged in the project/lesson that they are working on, they like to test their limits. I try to keep them guessing as to what it is that we will be doing next, to keep them on their toes. They thrive off a challenge. My school is highly effective in creating a positive tone and culture for our students to achieve academic success. We are a title one school that struggles to provide exciting new experiences that will give our students the opportunity to excel due to lack of funding.

My students need to be inspired by culturally rich experiences to increase interest and motivation in and outside the classroom.

It is important for the students to share memories and moments with their teachers and peers. This would be a positive impact for them and a memory they can hold and cherish the rest of their lives.

My Project

Through this play students will have the opportunity to make connections between the visual arts and language arts. They will intertwine the cultural benefits with the importance of these crucial art forms. The rich diversity of el Repertorio Español will help students become more in touch with their background and the various cultures around them.

This play will also create a bridge between the student's personal lives, and the characters in the play.

It is important for students to see actors that look like them and likely have similar backgrounds. This experience will be inspiring and eye opening for our students who are so in need of exposure to how beautiful our world can be.
