Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I teach an enrichment art class for 5th through 8th graders at a high-performing charter school in a high-needs community. The class focuses on developing basic art and creativity skill that are often not taught in the area.

My students, although highly creative and curious about the world, often lack opportunities to express themselves in various media because of the lack of funding available in the budget for the arts. We currently do not have paint sets for the students to use in art class. My students have expressed an interest in working beyond marker and color pencil mediums.

I need water color and tempera paint sets and brushes to empower my students to bring their imaginations to life on paper with paints. The supplies will be enough to sustain the creative art works of many 5th through 8th graders, even beyond this year.

Your help will ensure that my students have the opportunity to engage in creative artistic expressions that wealthier students in neighboring counties are able to enjoy. Your donation, no matter how small, will contribute to a wealth of artistic ventures for our class.
