Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade teacher in rural Fallbrook, California. This area has a high migrant population due to the agricultural influence. Fifty percent of my students are English Language Learners who are socioeconomically disadvantaged and receive free or reduced-price lunch. Nevertheless, my students show an inherent love for learning in the classroom.
Through their education, they recognize they can develop the tools to overcome any barriers to success in life.
Being from a lower socioeconomic status does not have to be a barrier in school, and my students prove this to me every day through their hard work and determination!
My Project
My students love math and are very excited to do math everyday! We use math as part of our everyday learning and my students would love to have a variety of different engaging and fun math games and tools to use during this time.
We want to incorporate these math games and interactive tools into our everyday math stations.
We have math stations daily and these math games and tools will provide these students with an engaging and fun way to learn math. Staying engaged during math stations is a great way for students to stay focused and on task during this time.
Additionally, students will these math games and interactive hot dots will allow my students to stay excited about learning math. Students will be able to use the hot dots pen to see if their answers are correct, which can make math super fun!
