Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school will have a music class for the first time in history! My school is a high-poverty school and our students are in great need. Our population is very diverse and rich in many different cultures. Our English as a Second Language is one of the largest in the district having students from almost all continents. The students at our elementary are passionate, hard-working, and devoted.
The goal of our school is to build excellence and challenge kids, and that is just what we do!
My students can't wait to experience the magic of music and relate it to the other academic areas! It's going to be fun!
My Project
My students will use the "Freddie the Frog" series to learn musical concepts through literacy. These books will be a great literacy resource. The flashcards and puppets will be used in whole group lessons and small group centers. The students will learn about the treble clef, musical vocabulary through jazz music.
By supporting my students, they will embrace literacy and musical concepts all while enjoying a fun and dynamic story about "Freddie the Frog".
Students will have the opportunity to meet fun characters and play and make music along with the recordings of the books. This will be a great way for me to get kids excited about music and reading!
