My Students

The motto of our school is "College Begins In Kindergarten". That motto holds true throughout our school environment from PreK to grade five. Currently, I teach a diverse group of fifth graders which makes my job so special. It makes me proud as their teacher to watch them excel daily and know when they go off to middle school, we have truly prepared them to be college & career ready!

In my fifth grade classroom, we have a variety of ELLs, SWDs and lots of cultures that make us unique!

Together, we are on the path to success and a true believer that no student is ever left behind at our school.

My Project

Flexible seating allows the students to be ready and willing to learn. We sit on the rug for a mini lesson (10-15 minutes) and then often they like to work on the rug when it is time for independent work. However, it can become uncomfortable when sitting for long periods of time or periodically throughout the day.

The students enjoy working on the rug to concentrate on their assignments and working with their peers.

At times, I host small groups on the rug and I know it can be unsupportive to them and is distracting them from learning because they are uncomfortable. Changing the environment and giving the students flexible seating can really enhance their learning!
