My students are growing through the sounds of music! I teach in a public school setting at four separate elementary schools containing approximately 200: 2nd, 3rd and 4th graders at each school; with a grand total of approximately 800 students receiving music instruction in the second, third and fourth grades!
My students are hungry for learning and possess the spirit and enthusiasm for leadership and success through music.
Students range from all kinds of backgrounds and home-life situations and are inspired through creating and connecting with positive musical experiences that support their development as a whole person through and music in the classroom.
My Project
My students love to play and perform with percussion tubes called Boomwhackers in the music classroom. This instrument is best played with a large group of students that work together to play, create and perform beautiful music. We currently have 8 sets of C Major Diatonic Boomwhackers which allow all students to have an instrument to play in my classroom. However, this limits what my students can perform and we are looking to enhance our music curriculum with these extension tools using Octavator caps, the 5-Note Chromatic sets and additional C Major Bass Diatonic sets of instruments.
The donation of these extension tools will help my students further their performance and deepen their understanding of the concept of pitch, rhythm and the science of sound.
