Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

At this school, more than 80% of students are Black, Latino, and/or Native American, and more than 90% come from low-income households. Our students are a wide variety of cultures, dreams, and aspirations. Each day, they walk into our classrooms with smiles that light up the room, ready to explore and conquer new challenges. Despite the diverse backgrounds and the hurdles they face outside the classroom, their resilience and desire for knowledge and success never fail.

They inspire us daily with their determination to learn and grow.

We are currently working on establishing school-wide a calming corner for each classroom—a dedicated space where students can go to relax, unwind, and manage their emotions effectively. Research shows that these spaces can significantly benefit students by providing them with tools to self-regulate and cope with stress. In our district we are facing major financial burden and possible cut of resources.
