I serve 100 ELL (English Language Learners) at my school. This project would benefit all of my students, as well as the projects created from this would impact my entire school. My school is 78% free and reduced lunch and is located in a needy community.
The one thing they all have in common, is the drive to learn English.
They are truly amazing!
My students are about 50% Hispanic, 25% Cambodian, and the rest a wonderful blend of everything from Russian to Chinese. They come from different countries and backgrounds.
My Project
These book sets specifically teach the different parts of the English language- nouns, endings, you name it! These fun, student stories would bring learning to life and help "my kids" understand the language better in a high engagement way.
The social emotional cards would allow my limited language students the opportunity to communicate non-verbally.
I am always looking for ways that all of my students can access the material and communicate either expressively or receptively.
I am also requesting 2 wobble chairs. My classroom uses flexible seating and these chairs would provide another option for students- particularly students that need to wobble and move around. These materials would last for years to come and benefit hundreds of students. The materials align to our school improvement plan and individual student plans as well.
