English Learners Study Alternative Energy Sources

Help me give my students the opportunity to learn about wind power by making windsocks, building toy cars with sails, and constructing wind turbines.

My Project

My students will be studying The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind, the true story of William Kamkwamba, an African boy who saved his village with a windmill.

These materials will give students books and hands-on experiences and knowledge of how William was able to help his village by generating electricity and pumping water.

Students will learn about wind power by making windsocks, building toy cars with sails, and constructing wind turbines. These are engaging and fun educational activities that will help students learn and remember the language and science that comes out of these tasks.
