Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school consists of about 90 percent English Language Learners and 100 percent on free/reduced lunch. Our teaching day consists of teaching Integrated ELD and Designated ELD for a minimum of 30 minutes a day and we support our newcomers with the most support as we level students during Designated ELD. Our focus is to teach reading, writing, listening, and speaking throughout the content and we team teach to help meet the needs of our EL population. Over the past couple of years we have seen a big shift in immigrants traveling over the border and coming to live in our low-income and low socio-economic barrio here in southern California.
Kleenex, hand wipes, and disinfecting wipes are crucial to keeping students healthy in flu season and every day in first grade.
Students will use Kleenex for their noses, hand wipes for keeping their hands clean, and disinfecting wipes for their tables, desks, and bathroom areas. We are asking for sanitizing items to help keep our classroom looking and smelling clean. We need wipes to wipe our tables from all the germs that are spread from all the students that come and go all day long in our classroom. Students switch classes daily and germs are spread more. We need the students' desk name tags and plastic holders so we can easily wipe them down daily from all the coughing and sneezing that happens. Germs are flying all over our classroom!
