Engineering Oakland: Students Build a Scraper Bike DJ Station

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Teens in East Oakland grow up in proximity to some of the world's most advanced engineering organizations. But sometimes the gap between the hood and the world of well-paid high-tech hacking needs a bridge. Students need creative hacking experiences so they can use storytelling to show they belong in both worlds.
This project provides components that students will use to build a mobile DJ station in the style of scraper bikes.
Students and community volunteers will apply mechanical engineering, audio engineering, electronics know-how, and street-art composition and production skills to build a multi-passenger pedal-powered DJ station that they can use on-campus, or transport to off-campus events.
Components include a Luxor Multi Height AV Cart for stacked components; an Apowking 146Wh Portable Power Station to power electronics; Phenyx Pro 4-Channel UHF Wireless Mic Set and XLR Cables to provide flexible vocal inputs for emcees; and 12 Graffiti Street Art Mural Spray Paint cans to achieve superior style for the bike.
