Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are Michigan area students who come from lower to middle-income families. Many students have limited access to normal household settings. Students have a close bond culture in which they interact both in and out of school.

Students thrive with project-based learning.

Creating projects and hands-on activities really help their critical thinking learning and logical thought process. STEM programs that support the creation and the ability to engineer projects make learning fun and exciting. Students want to build, touch, and create.

Students love STEM projects and the chance to create something from their own mind. Students love a classroom where it is not just writing papers or doing math problems on a worksheet. Collaboration and working with partners helps develop them as people and learners.

My Project

Students love to create and build. The process of engineering something from raw materials teaches teamwork, how to research, and how to solve problems. These double sided card board cutting tools are perfect for making great projects out of cardboard, but still safe for any student to use. These materials will be used to take cardboard and engineer something useful that will solve a problem. The storage containers will be used to store the raw carboard materials and cutting tools.

Students will be asked to engineer a miniature bridge out of cardboard which will be tested to see how much weight it can hold.

This project will involve the engineer design process and working together with teammates. This project will be a problem based learning STEM project that students can get excited about and will never forget.
