The headphones were an immediate draw for all of the students. As with all novel items in the classroom, students were excited to use them and immediately asked why I had gotten headphones with microphones - or gaming headphones, as they called them - for use in our English Language Arts classroom. I was thrilled to share with students why I had asked for the headphones with microphones specifically, and even more thrilled to see the looks on the faces of the students who I had thought of when asking for your donations. \r\nWhen I shared with all of my students that I had asked for \"Gaming Headphones\" so that it was easier for them to use Speech to Text to write and get their ideas down, I learned that many of my students had not been taught how to use Speech to Text on their Chromebooks. Most of my students with IEPs knew how to write that way, but my hesitant writers and others students who struggle to type did not have the knowledge yet. It took some time to teach more students how to use Speech to Text, but it was well worth the effort. After the initial teaching of how to use Speech to Text with the headphones, there were always students willing to help each other with the settings on their Chromebooks when it was time to write. \r\nAgain, thank you so much for your generous donations! The card games are great and they enjoy playing them not realizing they are reviewing integer rules.
