Engaging Word Work Materials

Help me give my students materials to study the different phonics patterns throughout first grade!

My Students

My students are in a school district where the number of low-income and high-poverty households is elevated. Almost all of my students are economically disadvantaged and receive free and reduced lunches.

Although they struggle with many challenges and hardships that are typically challenges of adults, my students are still your average 1st graders.

They come to school ready to learn and are excited to come into a safe and lovable environment. For many of my students, our classroom is just like their vacation getaway. They are able to be themselves, they get a break from hardships they do not have control over at home, they get a full and nutritious meal twice a day, and they know they have at least one person here who has their best interest at heart.

My students love to learn new things in all subject matters and understand that reading is the foundation for all things. They are intelligent, curious, and are always thinking above, beyond, and outside of the box. Most students do not have electronics at home and would be beyond excited and appreciative to experience learning through technology.

My Project

Students require engaging activities to build their vocabulary and spelling abilities. My students study different phonics patterns each week and build their spelling words daily using different materials.

I would like to expand my word work supplies by providing my students with Expo markers and erasers, stamps and ink pads and other fun materials.

Please help engage my students with fun ways to learn in the classroom. They will build their literacy knowledge and gain important skills they will use for the rest of their lives. Thank you for your support!
