Technology is a great way to get students engaged in education and remain engaged during class time for long periods of time. It is a great tool to supplement instruction and provide extra one on one learning for students who learn better using 1:1 instruction. Technology in our classroom will be used for this purpose and will give my students the opportunity for feedback, reinforcement, encouragement, practice, opportunities to expand on knowledge they already possess, conduct research, possibly collaborate, and take a break from hearing myself and their classmates talk all the time. The Chromebooks I am requesting will allow my students to add visuals, sound, and interactive activities through pictures, videos and presentations, and games to enhance their learning experiences. In return they will be able to gain and/or deepen their understanding of academic content, skills, and ideas. With these Chromebooks my students will have access to the internet and google applications that will allow them to practice and reinforce skills we learn in our daily instruction and learn at their own pace using district software that tailors to their academic levels and sets students on their own learning path. My students will also be given the opportunity to learn how to perform research based on projects and/or interest to help build knowledge and gain a sense of independence and responsibility for their learning, and use visuals, sound, and video as another means of learning and understanding difficult content especially in the areas of science and social studies.
