My Students

I teach a class of 24 amazing kindergartners who are eager to learn and deserve endless resources, experiences, and opportunities. They come from different backgrounds, have a wealth of experiences, and have a lot to contribute to our diverse learning community. They are eager for knowledge and engaging opportunities to learn.

My children delight in activities that engage their minds and bodies, and they look forward to what each day of the exciting kindergarten world brings them.

I have a very diverse population at my school and in my classroom with at least 50% learning English as their second language. I teach at one of the most diverse schools in the nation! It is my job to inspire and motivate students in a variety of ways that reach the whole child.

Many students come with challenges including ADD, ADHD, and autism, and it is my job to reach, teach, inspire, and love them all!

My Project

Our school is a PBIS (Positive behavioral interventions and supports) school and I am always looking for ways to reward my students. I would love for my students to be able to purchase apps and children's songs through the App store and itunes for my kindergarteners to have and utilize on their iPads as a reward for their positive behavior, hard work, and excellence. I am always looking for ways to motivate and reward my students in a way that enhances their learning experience. High-quality apps would be excellent rewards. I would allow them to select apps from a pre-approved list. Most of the quality apps for sight words, phonics, math concepts/skills, science concepts, learning games, etc. cost a few dollars and must be purchased individually for each iPad. I have been downloading free apps yet they are burdened with ads and frequently prompt for purchases.

Hundreds of apps on the iPads would lead to interactive learning from interactive apps like EPIC, Teach Your Monster to Read, Prodigy, Letter School, and so many more to reinforce concepts/skills in math, science, and language arts.

There are also a variety of apps to help with addressing social-emotional learning for young children. The gift card would help me build up a good library of engaging apps and songs for a broader learning experience!
