Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are freshmen to senior students with disabilities. Some of my students have physical disabilities, some have learning disabilities. All of my students are motivated and have a desire to progress and succeed. My students attend small group classes with me for all academic subjects, and they join their peers in general education classes for Health, PE, and electives such as Art and Photography. I am very lucky to be their teacher, they are a kind and focused group of students who enjoy learning and take their education seriously.
My Project
My students need high interest/lower reading level books that are engaging. I have a range of reading levels in my classroom of 9th to 12th grade students. Their reading levels developing and it is difficult to find books that are engaging for teens at lower lexile levels.
I have included my students in the selection of these novels, so they have a high interest in these particular titles.
My high school library only has one title that is at a lexile level my students can access. Thank you for helping me build a classroom library of interesting titles that will help my students build their confidence in their reading skills.
