There were then some Ohs and Ahs about how the charges on the chain (primary structure) resulted in the folding (secondary structure) and then how one groups protein might interact with another groups. \r\n\r\nWe were able to pull the models out again when learning about enzymes and how their shape allows for them to catalzye reactions. I plan on pulling them out again later in the year when we are learning about protein synthesis from the DNA code. MY students were thrilled when I showed them the supplies we had received! The quilting book, fabric and mosaic supplies are incredible. The first way my students interacted with the materials you donated was to map out our collaborate quilt making project. Students arranged the quilt squares in rainbow order. They choose rainbow colors to emphasize that our classroom is inclusive of all people.\r\nAfter creating the design, they sewed the squares together and made the top of of the quilt. Next they quilted the top. Lastly they chose the board fabric for the quilt.\r\n\r\nThe mosaic stepping stones will be completed in April as the weather warms up and we can be outside. The stepping stones will beautify the walk way to the Career and Technical Education Demonstration Learning Lab where my students are hosting free playgroups to local families with preschool age children.
