Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

The students I service are behind grade level and often have difficulties communicating with peers in social situations. I would like to have a computer that works to connect with my smart board to provide visual examples for the concrete concepts that I teach.

With a newer computer I can prepare powerpoint presentations ahead of time to engage students in the lesson being taught.

When teaching vocabulary it would be helpful to show students a visual representation so that they have a deeper understanding of the word. With a labtop I would be able to tap into academic online resources such as IReady, which helps a teacher keep track of students assessments. Assessment will be quicker to access in order to write differential lessons. I wll use assessments to assign work on student's indivual levels. This computer has more hard drive, giving me more space to store multidiscipline lessons that go across several subjects. I would also like to use this computer to teach social emotional lessons. We can use Youtube to watch child appropriate siuations that may be tough to deal with and discuss solutions and responses that fit the situation.

Being an interventionist teacher, I service students who have fallen behind grade level and I work to get them on level before the end of the year. When I begin servicing students they are depressed and often exhibit low self esteem. When I start working with students and assure them that they are bright, intelligent, and can achieve anything through persiverence, a light shines in their eyes that makes my job a dream!

I have to write lessons that reach the perspective of all students, requiring me to store large amounts of data. This computer will help me give students a better education through individual tracking.
