Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are always eager to learn and have a smile on their face day in and day out. They brush off a positive vibe to not only themselves, but to everyone around them. They are able to graciously learn from their mistakes and build from them to become life long learners. I learn so much from my students as they continue to grow in all of the domains.
What I love most about my students is their ability to absorb every opportunity they can to acquire a love for learning!
They are able to take academic risks by asking questions and problem solving in a variety of ways. In addition, my students are always building positive relationships and interactions which assist them in becoming well rounded members of our community!
My Project
It's important for young children to be exposed to social emotional learning through reading! Children who read about and openly discuss topics such as bullying, teasing, teamwork, patience, kindness etc. are more likely to become well rounded in their day to day routine. Children communicate more effectively with their peers and build strong relationships that help them understand each other.
Social-emotional development motivates students to resolve conflict, learn critical skills to communicate with others, and cope with their feelings through the art of reading!
Students are also engaged through an organized and colorful library that gives them that spark to want to explore various genres in the classroom! The more ways books are displayed through out the classroom, the more opportunities I have as an educator to inspire students to develop a love for reading!
