I have a self-contained class with 8 students with an Intellectual Disability or Autism classification.
My students all want to learn but have difficulty processing and retaining information and therefore need more time and multiple avenues to explore and absorb the information/content.
In every classroom there are students who are not functioning at the same speed and level as their classmates. That is especially true of students with special needs and evident in my classroom. In a class with 8 students, you have multiple functioning levels. Trying to adapt the curriculum so that every student has access to the same content/skill is challenging. This is evident in my classroom.
My Project
Technology is a motivating factor for my students. Using technology to access the curriculum allows them to interact with the content/skill at their own speed allowing for them to process the information they are learning in a fun and effective way.
My students will be able to use the tablets to access the internet and use apps to access the content being taught and be engaged which is difficult at times.
They can look up/gather information or watch videos about a specific topics.
My students would be able to use the tablets individually or with a partner to access and process the information being taught in the classroom with the use of the headphones and headphone splitters. And most of all, my students will be engaged during lessons due to the technology which of course they love. The tablet cases will help to protect the tablets during their daily use and the charging station will ensure that the tablets are charged for each day's activity.
