Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students have a lot of energy! They are funny, bright and make me laugh everyday. They come from a high poverty area and 100% of the students at our school receive free breakfast and lunch.
There are a lot of challenges that my students face everyday but they come to school and want to learn.
My students have overcome a lot and are some of the most creative and inventive people I have ever worked with. It amazes me some of the things that they come up with. They get excited about every new thing that they get to do or try.
My Project
My students love to sit on the floor to do their work but this can be a problem logistically at times. It is hard to write while sitting on the floor. That is why I am requesting 4 portable lap desks.
My students will be able to more effectively do their work, while in their favorite seating option, and still be able to work as a group.
I am also requesting rubber bands for chair legs and Expo markers. The bands for the chair legs will help my students who have trouble sitting still have an outlet for all that energy but still be able to focus. The Expo markers are a tool that my students use everyday. Taking turns solving problems at the board or sketching a picture to help them solve a math problem. Expo markers are one thing that I go through the most.
