Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

There are many great things going on at our school. We have music classes where students learn to play instruments. We participate in coding competitions. We focus on STEAM/STEM along with teaching students using AVID strategies.

As a teacher of students who come from situations that are beyond their control, I push them to persevere and be the best that they can be despite their situations.

Some of my students are either homeless or live in motels or crowded single rooms. Some of my students are responsible for caring for their younger siblings as their parents work long hours. Regardless of their situations, they come to school, try their hardest, and learn.

Living close to a popular tourist attraction, many of my students and their families are unable to go because they can’t afford it. Our school is a Title I-funded school where the majority of the students receive free or reduced-price lunches. We are currently participating in distance learning.

My Project

For this project, I am requesting a Teachers Pay Teachers gift card so I can get more engaging resources. This site has a ton of activities, lessons, and project resources that I feel that my students will enjoy. Why reinvent the wheel since it has already been created? By having gift cards, I can save time and focus on my students as well as my own family. I would like to get more science lessons such as activities for thermal energy. I would like to get some teacher-created digital breakout rooms so if we have to go distance learning, it would be ready to go.
