Help me give my students hard copies of Scholastic News articles to be used at home or at school. This will also allow students to have digital access to be used at home to extend the learning.
Arrrgh mateys! I'm so excited to share about my crew. In our classroom, we are a family, and we are also huge Pirate fans living in the ECU Pirate nation. We even wear our purple and gold Pirate shirts on Fridays to show our support of our hometown Pirates.
My students come from various prior educational experiences.
This year has brought about many challenges and even more educational experiences. Some students have been participating in 100% virtual learning, some have been participating face-to-face in a hybrid model, and others have been face-to-face from the beginning. All of my students are eager to learn and show excitement when challenged with new learning experiences.
While our school has many materials for students to use, many of the materials that we would have used in the past and could be "shared" are no longer able to be used due to COVID-19 safety measures.
My Project
These Scholastic News magazines will be used throughout instruction in the classroom. The magazines provide opportunities to read relevant and recent news articles in an interactive way. These nonfiction print magazines help students learn about current topics, as well as explore text features in print. Scholastic News helps build fluency in reading because they are short and have exciting photographs and information about current events. The digital access will allow students to share their learning with their parents at home, as well as access additional videos and resources at home.
