My Students

My students are engaged, enthusiastic, and hungry for knowledge! I teach at a Title I charter school of majority black and brown scholars. They prove every day that, when given support coupled with high expectations and fun learning activities, the effects of poverty can't stop them from excelling!

My Project

My 1st grade students love math centers! The fun, hands-on activities, and games make it so that they don't even realize they are learning. Students often want to take my activities home and I get messages all the time from parents about my students playing math Boom Cards (from my technology center) at home on their parent's devices. Centers allow for student choice, provide a variety of ways to learn, review and explore (i.e. manipulatives, games, open-ended tasks), and give me time for one-on-one and small group instruction.
