Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My class consists of 38 males and 56 females. Ninety-two percent of the students in my class receive free or reduced-price lunches. Most students come from blue-collar working families. We are in a high-poverty location. My class is an essential way for them to be exposed to an engineering field.

Project Lead the Way inspires students to seek a career in a STEM field.

This year I also have the opportunity to teach a history class. My class has many diverse nationalities, of whom 60% are Hispanic, 30% are African American, and the remaining 10% are other races. I have students who are English language learners and will benefit from the hands-on learning that they might otherwise not receive.

My Project

My students are currently learning about the thirteen colonies and how government laws were established. We have an outdated online textbook that we use, but I would like to include more engaging lessons and additional resources using TPT cards.

History shouldn't be about simply reading and answering questions on a worksheet.

My students should have the opportunity to learn about how history was made in fun and engaging lessons. I want my students to have the opportunity to learn about history in the eyes of a historian. They need to be able to read like a historian and have more than just an outdated textbook to learn from. Help me give my students the opportunity to have a hands-on learning experience by having fun and exciting lessons within their reach.
