My Students
This year, I will be teaching fourth grade. Our district is very diverse, and approximately 60% of our students are English language learners.
Our students come from a wide range of different socioeconomic backgrounds.
Over 60% of our students receive a free lunch. Our school also has a wide range of academic levels. Our school supports this wide range with programs like our Response to Intervention (RTI) Reading Program. Teachers regularly meet to look at student learning, analyze assessments, and examine our practice.
I am inspired every day by the young people we serve. Many of our students face adversity in their lives, yet they come to school eager to learn each day. Our families come from diverse backgrounds and come together to support and celebrate these kids. This year, more than ever, we are having to find ways to connect with families and support our learners.
My Project
Covid has changed the way that we have done a lot of things. We are unable to group science teams in larger groups sharing a single set of materials. Instead we need materials to be shared with partners at their own desks. This year our district has purchased classroom licenses to the wonderfully engaging Mystery Science program. This online program offers guided science explorations that meet grade level standards. The students love these activities. In order to use this valuable resource teachers need to gather the materials that are needed for each experiment.
We don't want Covid to get in the way of our hands-on science exploration!
Please help us get the materials that we need to keep science happening on a regular basis in our classrooms. This grant will cover the materials needed for both fourth grade classes at our school site.
