Help me give my students a VersaTiles® Literacy Center classroom set! VersaTiles® are an engaging, independent, self-checking system used to reinforce and practice skills taught in class during daily ELA center rotations.
The students of our school are incredibly diverse. As a highly esteemed, 5-star elementary school in Southern Nevada, we have students of varied backgrounds and learning abilities that work hard each and every day to reach their academic goals. The teachers, administration, staff, and parents of our school all work together in harmony towards the same goal -- providing our students with an unprecedented learning experience.
My classroom is home to 25 fourth grade students that are active and eager to learn.
Every day with my students is a new learning adventure, and it is truly my honor and privilege to teach in such an incredible environment.
As a teacher who is truly passionate about bringing learning to life in the classroom, it is my goal to provide my students with the tools they need to be truly successful both inside and outside of the classroom.
My Project
Each day in our classroom, learners take part in various English Language Arts activities, to help engage our students in multiple ways. We start our ELA block with a whole group novel study lesson, before breaking off into small group/center rotations, where I can work with students more closely (only 5 at a time!) to provide more individualized instruction, while the rest of my students move through different stations to complete independent or team activities to help reinforce skills taught in class.
The VersaTiles® system help students work independently toward literacy proficiency in a challenging, rewarding way.
The classroom set comes with 24 different ELA workbooks that are standards-based and rigorous, as well as 8 interactive answer trays. Students read the passage, and answer questions on the tray using the tiles. Once they have answered all of the questions, they close the tray, flip it over, and check to see if the puzzle pieces are aligned! This game-style, self-checking system creates a safe learning environment (alone or in partners) that increases student confidence, while also allowing students to practice valuable reading strategies they are learning.
