Engaging EdTech for Eager Learners

My Students

I teach a diverse group of 4th-grade students in Indianapolis, IN. In this current group, I have three students who write me sweet, encouraging notes weekly, especially when they have noticed I am having a tough day. They are wonderful people to work and grow with, and I am very motivated to provide them the best education I possibly can. My students love engaging in our content through games and we have really enjoyed our experience learning with EdTech like Classcraft and Gimkit.

My students are expected to have more experience and skill with technology each year.

Although they often spend a lot of time using electronics, it isn’t always in a productive and skill-building way. I am looking for opportunities to give them more meaningful contact with technology that makes them excited about learning and more proficient in the skills they need to succeed in school and in life.

My Project

Pear Deck helps my students take advantage of their Chromebooks to access and engage with my presentations right at their desks. With this Add-On to Google Slides, my students are able to view my presentations on their own Chromebook. They are also able to respond to questions I pose by typing or drawing an answer. With Premium, I can control the presentation from my Ipad while I monitor the room, sort their answers to display during the lesson and access their responses after the lesson to plan for intervention groups.

I was immediately drawn to this tool because it would help more students be engaged in math lessons, but the ready-made templates have helped me plan great new supports for our SEL curriculum.

I am really excited about all the other possible subjects I could embrace with Pear Deck. This tool would greatly support my teaching to individual learners and help more students be accountable for participating in their learning.
