Engaging Autistic Students

My students need an iPad in order to engage with educational activities. The cover is to protect the iPad when used by elementary students.

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Help our students with autism! My students are curious about many items and how they work. However they are easily frustrated also. An iPad will help calm them and educate them at the same time. There are apps to help in fine motor skills, communication, computation, etc.

My students have a variety of disabilities.

They are each working on their individual education plans to progress academically and even socially. Five of my students are in the autism spectrum. It is challenging to engage these students in learning activities since they think and see life differently. All of them are fascinated with technology.

My Project

With an iPad my students can engage in academic activities while working independently For the students with autism, this will be a calming activity. These students have the potential to be valuable members of society as adults if their unique talents can be channeled with learning and exploration.

When N or T are screaming with frustration, they can use the iPad for an educational activity.

This will benefit them and the entire class. My dream is to see them reach their full potential as adults. These students could be inventors some day since they see the world and its details differently. Help me challenge these students!
