Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My diverse, insightful, and curious second grade students come from a variety of cultures, lifestyles, and backgrounds and have a hunger to learn. All of the students at my Title 1 school are on the government free/reduced-price lunch program and anything we can do to help them goes a long way.
My students come to school each day with an eagerness to learn, despite the many challenges they face.The school is comprised of students that come from different backgrounds with different needs both in school and at home including many students that are new to the school having been displaced by Hurricane Maria.

My Project
Each student is different and within each classroom, a variety of strategies are needed to reach all learners at their level and with their learning style. Games and puzzles are an easy way to gain student attention and engagement. The games bought in this project, such as BINGO and the playing cards, will enable the students to learn while having fun. The puzzles, like the Time Equivalency cards, will show their thinking in a different way. I plan to use the Base 10 stamps set to make personalized practice sheets to meet specific student needs. The flexible seating options included in this project will help the students to feel even more comfortable within their classroom.
