My students need flexible seating availability. Having a variety of seating styles increases learning potential for students who need to move in order to stay more engaged.
These students come to the table with so many unique characteristics, qualities, and individual needs. I have a wide array of circumstances this year that make this class very special.
This year I find myself needing to be a bit more creative due to the nature of these students and their circumstances.
Each child appears to be a sponge. They are eager to learn and grasp each new concept that I introduce. It is so wonderful to be with them each day and help shape them into the people they are becoming.
My Project
There are so many students coming into our classrooms with special needs. Giving them a variety of options for seating enables those with social emotional behaviors and as well as physical needs the ability to choose for themselves which seating is most beneficial for them to most effectively stay engaged.
Wobble Chairs, soft seats, flex-space lap desks, and flex-space balance balls give students the best possible seating options for the most optimal learning positions.
Some students need to move while not disrupting other children. Some students need to be on the floor. Every child is unique. Using these flexible seating styles gives students the opportunity to increase engagement and therefore increase learning.
