My Students

Our students are located in a part of the school district where there is more than 60% free and reduced lunch. There learning opportunities are significantly impaired do their economic standing. As such, our school really tries to enhance their experiences so they can build on their prior knowledge. In our school we have a resource room with a Special Education population that have adjusted learning objectives and many of those students benefit from a diverse practice of teaching and learning where we use a variety of modalities including hands on instructional opportunities. We service kids in our area in grades K-5. My room is the nucleus of the building where I both have constant classes but itś a welcoming environment where students frequently come work.

My Project

We need your help! We are not equipped in our building to fully meet the needs of students in grades K-2 to have the opportunity to hold a device in their hand and learn. We have a limited quantity.

So many opportunities to engage technology and learn are not available to our student population.

To be exact, we have 20 Chromebooks for 4 classrooms to use; our approximate population in these 4 classrooms is 100 students. So what that means is that 5 computers stay in each classroom and kids have to rotate. Thatś fine until you find things are awesome on the web or in an application that you would like use with the whole group. Learning opportunities are lost to engage technology and learn for this student population. It also limits the teacher's ability to reach students who may struggle with other learning strategies but do great with the 1:1 correspondence of their own computer.
