My Students

I am a Reading Specialist at a small school located in Alabama. I service the teachers and students in grades Kindergarten through 3rd grade. My school is a Title 1 school located in a small rural town with over 75% of our student population qualifying for free and reduced lunch.

Our teachers spend countless hours working with students to improve reading and math foundation skills.

Despite the hard work and dedication the teachers devote daily, we realize we need the help of our parents and community.

Our kids walk into the school everyday smiling, happy and hungry to learn. The teachers just need the resources to be able to expose them to the best educational experiences available. Through the hard work and generous donations from people like you we can give these students the everything they need and deserve to have a prosperous future.

My Project

Today's readers are tomorrow's leaders! This is why teaching children to read is so important to me. As the reading specialist, I want my classroom to be a pleasurable experience that students will enjoy and are anxious to come to each day. Using these reading games will motivate them to learn to read in a exciting and captivaing learning experience. These fun and engaging games will allow them to learn the necessary skills to read while enjoying and collaborating with their peers. Incorporating stations and using these games during my literacy class will allow for the differentiation of their reading abilities in a non-nhreatening and fun way. I want to teach my students that reading is important, but most importantly, I want them to know that reading is fun!!
