This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Reading came so easy for many of us because we had parent support and resources at home. My students do not have the materials we take for granted, and I would like to offer that opportunity to them.

I currently teach 31 wonderful 4th grade students.

They all live in a high poverty, high gang area. They are highly motivated despite of the struggles they face on a daily basis. Because of the area our school is in, we do not have the support of parents or the community. We do not have the funds or resources needed to help these students reach their full potential.

My Project

We are required to teach 4 hours of reading and language a day to our students. Within this time, we are required to have centers. Our school does not have the resources to set up these centers, and teachers are often required to use their own money to fund them. I am requesting reading comprehension games, vocabulary building games, and vocabulary bingo in order to supply my students with supplementary materials they can have fun with and learn at the same time.

It is very important for my students to be able to practice grammar and reading comprehension in a fun and safe environment.

With our project, my students will be able to have that chance to learn, while having fun with games.
