Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are grateful for their education and opportunities to learn. They are all second language learners that come from poverty. Some are forced to deal and cope with unimaginable circumstances daily. Even with the obstacles they are forced to face outside of school, they never complain and come to school excited and ready to learn.
Our students are already trying to overcome so much by learning a new language that they really deserve to have the tools needed to be successful in school.
Most of my students get the majority of their experiences throughout their school career. They all have big dreams and I feel it is my job to help them get there. As a first year teacher, I want to be able to provide each student with the materials needed throughout each school day.
My Project
I try to incorporate engaging and fun ways to learn in our classroom. I want my students to not think of school as a place they have to come to everyday but a place they want to come. I am seeing their attitudes toward learning change and their minds grow! I want to rock our classroom with themed days a few times a year.
How often do you get to walk into a glow in the dark classroom?
This day will be full of engaging review games!! With the black lights I will be able to make games and activities that glow in the dark. Students will use the flashlights to help read their directions and questions that will be printed on the neon paper.
I will use the glow glasses to add to the excitement of the day. The neon paint will be used for setting up tic tac toe, math stations, spelling stations, etc. The ideas are endless for the things I can include in a day that will be full of conversations, engagement, and of course learning.
