Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have the best group of 4th grade students. We come from a variety of backgrounds. We are a Title I school, so a large percentage of my students come from low-income homes. Our students have worked very hard to learn and grow and have shown tremendous growth since beginning their elementary school careers. They all love Science and when we are able we love science activities
Every day, we work on being the best we can be.
My students are future leaders, innovative business people, doctors, pilots, writers and hopefully, lifelong learners. I love my students and want the best for them. We are focused on not only academics but also on our social and emotional skills and well being.
I know not every student has an ideal home life. As their teacher, it is my goal to provide them with the best learning environment possible. I want my students to feel loved, safe and inspired. I hope their experience in my classroom is a positive, memorable one.
My Project
This project will help us to complete a whole 4th grade science unit on energy and motion. This 8 lesson unit will encourage students to think about different types of energy, things that move and how they move. Studying science lessons is so much more effective when we can experiment like scientists in class.
Having the materials we need enables us to do hands on science activities in class!
Some of these activities include making rubber band racers using paper cups, rubber bands, plastic lids and a few other items on the list. Another project is to create bumper coasters using the foam piping, and marbles, while we study motion. We will investigate chain reactions then build flashlights using the LED lights, foil and the 3v batteries. Another highlight in our unit will be the heat spinner we create using the gel packs. With this project we will look closely at heat energy.
