Energize Our Yoga, Imagination and Mindfulness Classes!
My students need yoga props to deepen their practice, in stretching, breathwork, and Mindfulness. Blankets will keep them warm on windy days and be used for personal accommodations. Books will add inspiration and new connections!
These Kindergarten, first and second grade students are full of excitement and curiosity. They embrace mindfulness practices and show a marked difference after we use calming techniques. They leave YIM class (yoga, imagination and Mindfulness) happy, calm and interested.
Yoga and mindfulness practices help these students gain new techniques that they can use in all situations- academic, social and problem-solving.
Because we are a project based school, being able to connect to yourself, to communicate and collect your thoughts are highly important skills to embody when collaborating with peers on real world work.
These students' families come from all over San Diego to bring their children to learn and are dedicated to supporting their child to do their best at school. Incorporating movement helps these little ones to better focus and gain new skills!
My Project
Each student in levels K-2 meet for an intimate yoga, Imagination and Mindfulness class that offers affirmations, stretching, breathwork, connection, learning, stories, imagination and fun. Being in the park is inspirational, but also can be stark, so this project will help us immensely!
This project will allow these students to have more props for accommodating their personal needs and growth, while keeping them warm and cozy if the winds come up.
By using blocks, straps and blankets, students can adjust the poses to work best for their own bodies as they grow. These will allow for the students to have a more dynamic and versital yoga practice.
With new books, the students can enjoy new activities, and add a layer of reading to this work. The pinwheels help students to find a strong, yet smooth breath which aids their cognition, allowing them to think their best for the rest of their academic day.
