My special education students are a unique blend of young people who are creative and brilliant but struggle with emotional and behavioral challenges. I want my young scholars to work hard every day and try their best, and I want to provide them with resources to make it easier for them to accomplish that.
My students are involved in multiple forms of written expression in all their classes including daily writing in math and science.
They need to be able to complete writing projects, anchor charts and more in the classroom. Not all of my students have ready access to a home printer or have the means to easily get to a library to print. Having a printer in our room has been a huge help, but we need toner cartridges to help us keep our endless printabilities going! Our school is in a large urban school district with 100% of our students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
My Project
Classroom printers in our building are nonexistent and to print, my students used to have to save on flash drives or email items to my one district laptop, where I could then print their work to the main copy machine, that all the teacher’s use, which is down the hall and around the corner. Luckily we have a classroom printer to use but all of our print projects take ink. We need toner to last us through the year so that we can print something quick.
We need toner to continue being able to print in our classroom.
Being able to print is such a great motivator for my students to complete digital assignments and then printing immediately to see the fruits of their labor first hand. Items like essays, brochures, charts, interactive notebook entries, and much more will quickly come to life. The ink is a necessity so that we can not only print black and white copies but colored ones so they can instantly have their projects in their hands! My students will take pride in their work and this can help them to succeed in school.
