Help me give my students a wonderful rest of the year without having to worry about what they are writing with! Writing tools and a sharpener will help end the year smoothly!
My students are sixth graders from the western part of our county. This particular area does not have an excessive amount of money. In the last year, they have been impacted by Hurricane Florence which greatly impacted our community. Many students lost homes, clothes, and supplies. These students are brilliant, athletic, funny, and truly loving children! They deserve the best!
My students deserve to learn in an atmosphere that inspires them to collaborate and instills a sense of comradery amongst them, because we are first and foremost, a team.
It is my hope that if I receive a donation, students will be inspired by their surroundings and I will be able to continue fostering these children in their growth.
I am asking for contributions for materials to help us through the end of the year. I have bought many supplies out of pocket and utilized school resources as well. I fill up my supplies each day but far be it for me to tell a child they need to return a pencil or that I do not have Expo markers for them to use. I would like to have a few things to help things around the room easier.
My Project
As a Math class, it is important my students have adequate writing utensils of all kinds to perform well in class. I fill up my jar almost daily with pencils. If having to ask for pencils back at the end of each class is my biggest battle, it's one I am prepared to lose. A child should never go without something as simple as a pencil.
With that comes the need for a proper sharpener, which as of right now, we do not have.
My students use an old fashioned pencil sharpener which is loud and time consuming. We would love to have a nice electric sharpener to help things run smoothly! When we are not working on our iPads or taking notes, we are usually working out equations on the whiteboard. I don't know if you remember being a child but writing on the whiteboard was always the best! Some things never change. Kids still love this which means markers dry out quickly. I would appreciate having some back ups and not always having to remember to go to the store to purchase my own. The small joys keep these kids going. If writing on the whiteboard can help make a kids day even the slightest bit better, I want to contribute to that in any way that I can.
I am not asking for much, just a few small items to help us make it to the end of the year. These children have been through a lot in the last seven months and any contribution to helping them complete this year with ease is greatly appreciated. Thank you!
