Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

The students at my school come from economically disadvantaged homes and are all minorities. The students in my classes are all special needs students or students who are struggling learners in need of skill development and are 2 to 5 years behind their peers. Many of my students have Autism, intellectual disabilities, Dyslexia, emotional differences, communication needs or other learning differences. Some of the activities they have enjoyed are cooking and art. The end of the year is particularly hard to keep them on track so activities that involve art or cooking are engaging.

We work on important life skills such as working with others and communicating while we are working on our projects.
