Help me give my students the initiative to read. Getting an incentive as small as a bookmark or pencil, is just what many 6th grade students need to keep reading.
Next year, I will be teaching reading as well as mathematics. Although I have taught reading in the past, I did not teach it this school year. I have learned from previous years of teaching reading, there are many students for whom incentives encourages reading.
I would like to be able to give my students some incentives for reaching reading goals.
I am asking for some bookmarks for students to choose after they have completed a book to use while reading their next book. I have also asked for some "fun" pencils and stickers to use as rewards for the students when they reach their quarter reading goals.
The last two items in my project are to assist students with their reading. Post-It notes can be used to write short notes while reading. Guided Reading Strips give students with attention and focus difficulties assistance with staying on track while reading.
