Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

I work in a charter school, and a significant number of my students come from low-income backgrounds, are recent immigrants, or are descendants of immigrants. I am dedicated to providing my pupils with equal access to all the resources they need and actively working to address any inequalities in the educational system. My students could use a more focused and driven approach to developing motor skills and cultivating curiosity at school. This is clear, particularly when some parents face financial limitations that prevent them from accessing these resources. I teach  social-emotional learning and art to students in grades K–5. Based on the preferences of my students, I decided to provide the younger children with water paint instead of acrylic paint. Users can fully enjoy the painting experience without any inconvenience. K-2 students are in a crucial stage of developing their motor skills and creativity. It is important to encourage them to freely explore and construct with magnetic tiles, allowing their imagination to grow exponentially. I'm planning on  having my fourth- and fifth-grade students create canvas paintings by using canvas sheets and acrylic paint and showcase them at the end of the school year. This will provide them with a notable accomplishment to take pride in. My students thoroughly enjoy the block-building activities, and it is of utmost importance to me that they have ample opportunities for hands-on learning during their free time and on Fridays. I would greatly appreciate the assistance of individuals like yourself who can assist my students in highlighting their talents.
