This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! They come with tenacity, creativity, and a wide variety of experiences and gifts. We work hard every day as scholars, artists, critical thinkers, and friends. Together we imagine new possibilities for our community, our country, and the world.

At our school, 96% of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, and 92% of the students are students of color.

My students have come from many different parts of the world including Ecuador, Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Ethiopia, Somalia, and the United States. The majority of my students are learning English as a second or third language.

My students are the engineers, pilots, dentists, poets, and architects of the future. These students have the capacity to achieve greatness.

My Project

I am requesting graphic novels in Spanish, including Percy Jackson, The One and Only Ivan and the Babysitters Club series. This year I have several new-to-country students. And they love to read the books in Spanish that we already have... we just need more. We read every day. Staying excited about reading takes books! As the classroom teacher, I want to provide students access to books that are diverse and engaging. My students will love to read these high-interest books in Spanish.
