Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a group of wonderful second graders in Camden City school district. All of my students receive free lunch and my class is a general education class with ESL students.
My students enjoy being able to work in learning centers/stations, reviewing and learning in cooperative groups and/or pairs each day.
I hear many times a day "Can I go to a center?" It saddens me when I have to limit center time because of the lack of materials/activities. My students will have the opportunity to choose variations of literacy and math activities instead of the same activities over and over. This project will allow me to provide more meaningful activities for all of my students.
My Project
My students will benefit from this project because it will allow them to be more creative in the writing and math centers without the current limitations of activities and materials presently. I am pleased and excited that my students want to visit the learning stations daily and "beg" to stay and practice which promotes continuous learning.
The materials listed in my project will enable me to add new activities and replenish supplies more, so students won't be limited to their choices and the ability to explore daily.
I have tried to purchase and add materials on my own, but I often run out and students constantly ask for more
