This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students and I would love to be able to start growing plants in our classroom. We have started to learn about taking care of the environment and would love to be able to plant our own seeds and watch them grow. Students would love to plant flowers for our school garden and for plants they can later plant in their own garden. They will learn life skills as they work in the school garden. The books will get the children engaged in learning.
Many of our students do not have the resources to have hands-on learning about the earth or gardening.
We are learning about monarch butterflies and the plants will grow so butterflies can come to our garden to get nectar. The garden beds and the flower seeds will be used to create and maintain a school garden. The hands-on learning will help them to fully grasp the concept of growing plants, and leave them with the skills necessary to grow their own plants at home with their families!
