This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our classroom has an incredible group of resilient and curious students passionate about making a difference in their community. Many of our students face challenges related to food insecurity, which can impact their focus and learning. Through this project, we aim to address this issue by providing healthy snacks and beverages for our classroom and families in need within our community.
Our Commitment to Fighting Hunger
We are excited to partner with The Allstate Foundation's initiative to combat food insecurity. By participating in this project, we will empower our students to lead efforts that directly support families in our community struggling to access nutritious food.
The resources we are requesting—including Poland Spring Water, BelVita Breakfast Bars, and Kellogg's Pop-Tarts—will serve as a foundation for our student-led initiative.
Providing healthy snacks will help our students maintain energy and focus during school hours, ensuring they are prepared to learn and engage.
We will package and distribute extra snacks and beverages to local families in need, addressing food insecurity directly. This act of service will teach our students the importance of empathy and community support.
The variety of snacks will encourage students to work together, sharing ideas and coordinating efforts to serve the community, strengthening their teamwork skills.
Goals for This Project
Empower Student Leadership: Students will take charge of the project, from planning to execution, learning valuable leadership and organizational skills.
By providing resources to local families, we aim to alleviate some of the pressures of food insecurity within our community.
Through outreach and service, students will forge connections with local families, fostering a sense of belonging and shared responsibility.
Our students are not only eager learners but also compassionate individuals who want to make a positive impact in their community. They possess a unique blend of creativity, resilience, and teamwork.
